Besigye Pledges to Rebuild North

THE Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Presidential candidate Kizza Besigye has promised to reconstruct northern Uganda if voted president in the February elections. Speaking at several rallies in Acholi region over the weekend, Besigye said he would camp in the north when elected and over see its reconstruction. He said his government would work on rebuilding hospitals, schools and roads in the region.

Besigye assured the people that this time round, IPC would win the elections.
"I know you are disappointed that we have not achieved anything in the last two elections.
A struggle like ours cannot end in one day.
The National Resistance Movement (NRM) regime made it difficult for people who opposed it to get organised." He said his party was now more organised and called on the people to guard the votes at the polling stations until the final tallying is made.
"This time we are more organised and have all machinery in place to protect our votes," he assured the voters in Puranga, Pader district. Besigye told the voters that because of re-organisation, FDC defeated NRM in Mbale municipality, Bugweri and Mukono.
"These are signs that we have gained the capacity to protect our votes even in areas where the NRM was rigging our votes." Besigye, who is also the Inter-Party Cooperation flag-bearer, said Museveni and his Government should not claim credit for the prevailing peace in the region as they opposed the peace talks in Juba. He said credit should go to the religious and cultural leaders as well as local politicians who worked hard to see that the Juba peace talks succeed.
