Police arrests more demonstrators in Mbarara


The protestors in Mbarara yesterday blocked the Mbarara-Masaka high way, Ntare road and Bamunanuka drive before the police intervened.They were also reportedly demonstrating over the arrest of Kizza Besigye and the high cost of living.

The police spokesperson for the South Western region Polly Namale said the protests were the first of the kind in the area.

She says the protestors destroyed government property, including vehicles in addition to throwing stones at motorists and passersby.

Namale says the protestors will be charged with holding an unlawful assembly and destruction of traffic flow.
