The holidays aren't just for family get-togethers - they're also the time for romantic wedding proposals.
Gabrielle Union became one of the happy statistics as she announced her engagement to Miami Heat basketball player Dwyane Wade on Saturday.
The 41-year-old Think Like A Man actress shared the thrilling news on her Twitter page along with a picture of the spectacular ring on her finger, a square-cut diamond set on what appears to be a platinum band.
'Sooooo this happened...#Yessss,' Gabrielle excitedly wrote in the caption.'She said YES!!!' Dwyane, 31, echoed on his own Twitter account, alongside a post of the same photo.
The photo is a close-up of just her hand wearing the dazzling ring and resting gently on Dwyane's fingertips.
The basketball player proposed with an 8.5 carat cushion cut diamond ring by jewellery store Jason of Beverly Hills.
And according to reports the dazzling engagement ring is worth almost a million dollars.
And apparently Dwayne took his time in finding the perfect stone for the ring - sending his jeweller to Miami in search of the right gem - and on the third trip - he found the enormous diamond which he set in a platinum band.
